Kevin Bacon’s Creepy Encounter With the ‘Haunted’ House That Landed in His Possession

No we’re not talking about Kevin Bacon’s house in Guardians of the Galaxy. The star, well know for numerous movies and TV shows, recently shared a spine-tingling tale about a haunted house that came with some land he purchased in northwestern Connecticut back in 1983.

In a recent episode of Rob Lowe’s podcast “Literally!”, Bacon revealed that he had been slowly accumulating parcels of land in the area. However, one particular piece of property came with a chilling reputation, courtesy of the previous owner who had grown up there.

Bacon recounted, “He says, ‘I can’t sell it to you because it’s haunted. I’m afraid that you’ll get possessed and do some serious damage.'”

The star of “Footloose” admitted that this revelation took him by surprise. To secure the property, an unusual agreement was made.

“We finally came to an agreement, in the contract, that I had to destroy it within a month (of purchase),” Bacon explained to Lowe.

Lowe, clearly intrigued, asked Bacon whether he had dared to spend a night in the haunted house before demolishing it. Bacon’s response was filled with a mix of humor and trepidation. He confessed that he didn’t have the courage to spend a night there.

However, his curiosity did get the best of him in one aspect. Bacon mentioned, “I went up there, and there were some beautiful old pine boards and a banister, and I said to Kyra (Sedgwick, his wife), ‘We gotta take those out.’ And she’s like, ‘No you’re not. You’re not putting those f**king things in our house!'”

It turns out that Sedgwick, his wife, displayed a cautious and practical approach, fully aware of the potential repercussions of bringing items from a haunted place into their home.

While Bacon has had his fair share of roles in horror movies, he clarified during the podcast that his cinematic experiences haven’t turned him into a believer in the supernatural.

He explained, “When you’re in a scary movie, everybody wants to know, ‘Have you ever seen a ghost, or do you believe in ghosts?’ And the thing I always say is, I would really love to. But as of yet, it just hasn’t happened. But I hope someday that it will.”

Bacon’s story serves as a captivating reminder that sometimes, even when it’s not on the big screen, the eerie and unexplained can creep into our lives in unexpected ways. Whether it’s a true ghostly encounter or just a spooky coincidence, it keeps us all intrigued by the mysteries of the unknown.
